Artist Biography

John Buonauro, The Woodcarver’s Place, is an Arizona artist with a deep reverence for nature.  John’s an Assemblage’ and Mixed Media artist using whatever materials needed to produce his creations.  Carving in wood, painting with oils or acrylics, found wood, stone and other mediums are used to represent his vision.

Chicago born John Buonauro finds his true happiness when surrounded by nature.  His free time finds him hiking mountain trails, deep canyons, beautiful deserts and shorelines; the past 30 years in and around Arizona. His deep reverence for nature gives him intimate knowledge of his subject matter.

Two-dimensional painting was inadequate for John, resulting in the awe-inspiring beauty of his unique 3-dimensional work. His connection with nature enables him to “find” his next creation.   “The hunt is the thing. I have to see what something can be.”

Each piece of work comes alive using his exceptional style of carving in wood, use of stone, found wood and various mediums.  His objective is for every viewer to see the beauty of nature through his work.

He is in several private collections and is featured at the Havasu Art Center, Spresser Gallery, Sedona Galleries and various galleries across the country.
